This was kind of a lifesaver to the family because they didn't have to worry about me. And so, here I am.
From the family point of view, this has been terrific, High Desert Haven. Because me and my two sisters are still very, very mobile. When we take long trips out of country and all over, we kind of do a relay on who's here. It's very comforting to know that if for some reason all three of us are gone, that High Desert Haven and it's wonderful staff are here to take care of Mom.
I didn’t want to live by myself. I was in a lot of organizations. I've been out here visiting somebody at High Desert Haven and I loved the rooms. I love the size of the rooms. Each room has a separate entrance. I thought, “ Oh, that's heaven!” If I want to go and socialize with the people, they have games and all sorts of things in the activities office. I go up there and play games. I read a lot. I just really feel at home here, as much as I can without my husband.
You know, I'm really happy for my dad. I can leave and I know he's in good hands. He gets three meals a day. He gets exercise. You call me if you need me, but also, you don't call me unnecessarily. I'm pleased. I’m just happy.
The help has been excellent, with me. I have absolute no complaints. The food is balanced meals, and it is always good. I have had absolutely nothing but good things to say about the help. They are very cooperative, very nice, and they have nice exercise classes. You work at it at your own speed. The little girl that has the class, she is so well trained and so cooperative. It's a nice place to go.
